The Registry

Every CZARD collection is recorded in chapters, each carrying a fixed run of individually numbered watches of every reference in it. A watch can be verified here by its collection, chapter, reference, position and status. Ownership details remain private.

The serial is on your certificate and inside the caseback perimeter. Shorthand like “A-150” is not enough to authenticate a watch — two collections can each hold one.

Where the chapters stand

A place in the record of CZARD

Every CZARD collection is recorded in chapters. A chapter carries a full run of each reference in that collection, and every reference is numbered from 001 in its own right. The CZARD Compass runs 500 of each — 500 Venis, 500 Vidis, 500 Vicis. Genève 1541 is Swiss-made and deliberately scarcer: 100 of each.

The first is the Founding Chapter. When the final watch of every reference in it has been allocated, the chapter closes and the next begins — Chapter A, followed by B, C and onward. A reference that completes its 500 early continues in the next chapter while the others finish theirs.

A closed chapter is not reopened. The collection may continue, but that particular chapter remains complete.

Your chapter

Your number is assigned in dispatch order, within your reference’s own run. It appears on the watch, its accompanying coin and its digital record. The complete CZARD serial also identifies the collection and the reference, ensuring that every registered watch has one unambiguous record — number 127 of one reference and number 127 of another are two different watches, and the serial says which is which.

What a chapter is — and is not

A chapter is a numbered production record. It is not a promise that the collection ends after this chapter, and it is not a guarantee of future value.

Its meaning comes from something simpler: CZARD will keep the record, follow the same rules and never rewrite a completed chapter.

Questions

Is each CZARD collection limited to 500 watches?
No. A chapter contains 500 numbered watches. When it is complete the next chapter begins, and the collection continues. The cap is on the chapter, not on the collection.
When is my number assigned?
At dispatch. A number is reserved when packing begins and permanently recorded when the parcel is handed to the carrier, which is why it appears in your shipment confirmation rather than at checkout.
Can I choose a number?
No. Positions are allocated sequentially in dispatch order. We do not reserve or sell preferred numbers, so every collector enters the chapter under the same rule.
Can two collections have the same chapter position?
Yes. Each collection runs its own chapter sequence, so a Compass A-150 and a Genève 1541 A-150 both exist. The canonical serial includes the collection code, which is why it, and not the shorthand, is what authenticates a watch.
What happens if I return my watch?
The serial stays with the physical watch. An unopened return can go back to stock after inspection; a worn or claimed one is never renumbered and is offered again only as disclosed open-box stock.
What happens if my watch is replaced under warranty?
Your chapter position is preserved. If the original numbered parts come back to us and are destroyed, the replacement carries the same serial. If they cannot be recovered, the replacement carries a suffix — 127 / 500 · R1 — so that no two watches are ever presented as the same untouched original.
Can I transfer the watch’s ownership record?
Yes. The watch keeps its serial and its chapter; only the private ownership relationship changes. A record flagged lost or stolen cannot be transferred without review.
Does a chapter number guarantee future value?
No. CZARD does not promise or predict resale value. The Chapter System records when a watch entered its collection’s history; market value is determined independently.
